Almond Hot Chocolate

Almond Hot Chocolate

Who wouldn’t love a good hot chocolate especially on a cold wintry day? Dark chocolate is good for diabetics, especially when made with almond milk, and a wonderful comfort beverage but in most cases, comes heavily sweetened. Here, I’ve used Dutch cocoa for a deeper flavour.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons Dutch cocoa

2 cups almond milk or coconut milk

½ teaspoon vanilla essence or angostura bitters

¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder

2 tablespoons maple syrup

¼ teaspoon sea salt

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a pan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Stir with a whisk to make sure the mixture is smooth.
  3. Serve hot.
