Lesson 7: Is Faltering Part of the Process?

If you’ve made it this far, you’ve probably noticed something I’ve been saying repeatedly – progress is not linear.

I think one of the biggest mistakes people make is assuming that consistency means never slipping. In real life, routines change, stress rises, schedules shift, and motivation fluctuates. Faltering is not a failure, it is simply a feedback to re-assess.

Why Restarting Often Backfires

Many people respond to disruption by trying to restart everything from scratch. I’ve found that this usually increases pressure and reduces confidence. Restarting implies that everything done before somehow “didn’t count,” which isn’t true at all. Progress doesn’t disappear because one week went off track. What matters is how quickly and calmly you reorient.

Reassessment Over Self-Criticism

Please replace self-judgment with reassessment. Instead of asking, “What did I do wrong?” I think it’s far more useful to ask, “What changed?” Was it stress, sleep, travel, celebrations, workload, or emotional fatigue? This sort of reassessment turns disruption into actionable information!

Effort Levels Are Meant to Move

I hope you got it by now that effort levels are not fixed. They exist so you can move up or down depending on capacity. When life becomes demanding, reducing effort is often smarter than quitting entirely. Lowering effort strategically preserves momentum which is more important.
