Glossary of Terms

Often, we are asked to explain the medical jargon that we inadvertently use in our podcasts and videos. We have not only embedded these wherever we speak of them, but also added them in this central place. Here, you will find medical terms, names of diseases and laboratory tests. 

As we use the terms, we will add them here, therefore please keep this page handy and do visit it often to see if there is anything that has changed. Of course, if you would like to add anything else to this list, please do let us know.

Jenny (and Rachel Ray)'s veggie chili

Ajoy's Guacamole

  Dry roast 1t cumin grind in a stone grinder. Add jalaneno, kosher salt,chopped cilantro stems, 2t chopped onions, 5 cloves of garlic and grind. Add more chopped onions , 1 chopped jalapeno, 3 avocados and juice from 2 lemons and 2 small limes. Serve with corn chips only after about 15 minutes.

Ravioli in Alfredo sauce

1 T vegan butter on low flame, add 1/8 C flour stir till it mixes and bubbles, add a pinch of nutmeg, crushed  garlic, 1.5 C milk, stir and wait till it thickens. Ravioli: Trader Joes

Vegetarian meatballs, ravioli and romesco sauce

Brussels sprouts with parmesan cheese

Cut them in half after peeling one layer out. Boil them for no more than 8 minutes. Pan sear them in a little oil. Add some parmesan cheese after you cool the pan down. Plate and add some more cheese. Serve with dijon mustard.

Mirpoix based mild soup for sick ones

Ingredients: Mirpoix (onions/celery/carrots) One small potato chopped Bunch of thyme 2 Bay leaves 3 sage leaves Pinch of red chilling powder Method: Add everything except for the chili powder in water and simmer for 20minutes. Quick mirepoix based seafood stew with chickpeas

Ingredients: Onion/celery/carrots (mirepoix) thyme butter vegetable stock chickpeas seafood mix Method: Saute the mirepoix in vegan butter (I cheat and use a little evoo). Sabutdaana khichdi

Saute chopped potatoes. Add cumin. Add ground green chilies, cilantro and ginger. Saute for 5mins. Add pre-soaked (overnight or at least an hour)  sabutdaana and mix gently. Add salt, cover and simmer for 10mins.
