Are keto diets healthy?
Luckily those who do keto diet are against dairy and processed food. They thankfully encourage high fruit nut and vegetable intake.
However they promote excess meat eating! Studies have shown health benefits of keto diets, but many of these were not scientific, or in some cases were done on pigs!
In one study, subjects were put on a keto diet and a high intensity exercise program. After a few weeks the diet and hardcore workouts helped subjects lose weight. But participants increased their bad cholesterol! In addition, articles in medical journals have catalogued contaminants in meat such as mercury arsenic cadmium, and medicines such as antibiotics fed to the animals.
In summary, keto diets do give results in the short run, but in the long run, they are devastating to the heart liver and kidneys and leads to diabetes heart disease fatty liver etc.
So best to avoid keto diets at least in the long run, and stick to what comes naturally to humans a plant-based diet!
